AMENDMENT DESCRIPTION:
Amendment strikes sections 131 through 133 of the bill which would have allowed funding to foreign nongovernmental organizations that perform or promote abortions.
AMENDMENT PURPOSE:
An amendment numbered 4 printed in House Report 107-62 to strike sections 131 through 133 of the bill in order to effect preservation of the President's legal authority to implement the pro-life "Mexico-City Policy" which prohibits U.S. population assistance funds from being made available to foreign organizations that perform or actively promote abortions in foreign countries.
