<official-title>To amend the Peace Corps Act to establish an Ombudsman and an Office of Safety and Security of the Peace Corps, and for other purposes.</official-title>

<section id="HD6AC04272E364D0186F9ACCD73B43F79" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short Title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote>Health, Safety, and Security of Peace Corps Volunteers Act of 2004</quote>.</text></section> 
<section id="HA0351BE2292F486B934492766F582BCA"><enum>2.</enum><header>Ombudsman of the Peace Corps</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The Peace Corps Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/22/2501">22 U.S.C. 2501 et seq.</external-xref>) is amended by inserting after section 4 the following new section:</text> 
<quoted-block id="HE1566CFCEB1648859B902BD205A346CA" style="OLC"> 
<section id="HDA3E5B6A61E945E3A6579099A9792579"><enum>4A.</enum><header>Ombudsman of the Peace Corps</header> 
<subsection id="HD49687965A374452A2797600112DB356" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Establishment</header><text>There is established in the Peace Corps the Office of the Ombudsman of the Peace Corps (hereinafter in this section referred to as the <quote>Office</quote>). The Office shall be headed by the Ombudsman of the Peace Corps (hereinafter in this section referred to as the <quote>Ombudsman</quote>), who shall be appointed by and report directly to the Director of the Peace Corps.</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="H3C1ABC377873469FB9C667BDC8EE1274" indent="subsection"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Volunteer Complaints and Other Matters</header><text>The Ombudsman shall receive and, as appropriate, inquire into complaints, questions, or concerns submitted by current or former volunteers regarding services or support provided by the Peace Corps to its volunteers, including matters pertaining to—</text> 
<paragraph id="HA890C9D2CFD94BBE84D16C8D60582C60" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the safety and security of volunteers;</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HCA84147150DF4AD1965F8F4B6C9D7033" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(2)</enum><text>due process, including processes relating to separation from the Peace Corps; </text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H8FC85AEA9B2646A492D29911F0004F59" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(3)</enum><text>benefits and assistance that may be due to current or former volunteers;</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H9832191C2732404BA5AD92B56800D3F1" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(4)</enum><text>medical or other health-related assistance; and </text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H423163698B99482A93BB9ED12858CBF4" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(5)</enum><text>access to files and records of current or former volunteers.</text></paragraph></subsection> 
<subsection id="H229091F23298474A9CB3B5C238A3BE8" indent="up1"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Employee Complaints and Other Matters</header><text>The Ombudsman shall receive and, as appropriate, inquire into complaints, questions, or concerns submitted by current or former employees of the Peace Corps on any matters of grievance. </text></subsection> 
<subsection id="H3ABC5B35BD594EF8AD5926897C16CD83" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Additional Duties</header><text>The Ombudsman shall—</text> 
<paragraph id="H4D29B7F6EECF43179258E4BAAD9F3D" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(1)</enum><text>recommend responses to individual matters received under subsections (b) and (c);</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H5BFED90E9289403BB24DB37B08C38E16"><enum>(2)</enum><text>make recommendations for administrative or regulatory adjustments to address recurring problems or other difficulties of the Peace Corps;</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H26E9AF951C4B468E9900AC71F7F9AEC4"><enum>(3)</enum><text>identify systemic issues that relate to the practices, policies, and administrative procedures of the Peace Corps affecting volunteers and employees; and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HB54558514C004329A62968586978F221"><enum>(4)</enum><text>call attention to problems not yet adequately considered by the Peace Corps.</text></paragraph></subsection> 
<subsection id="H2C0A26CAAF1B4A25A7C972342FE1806C"><enum>(e)</enum><header>Standards of Operation</header><text>The Ombudsman shall carry out the duties under this section in a manner that is—</text> 
<paragraph id="H20B2B8BCF259462EA8039508AFA8726C"><enum>(1)</enum><text>independent, impartial in the conduct of inquiries, and confidential; and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H73BEA9A50E5F49F6ADE634D1F2D9935"><enum>(2)</enum><text>consistent with the revised Standards for the Establishment and Operation of Ombudsman Offices (August 2003) as endorsed by the American Bar Association.</text></paragraph></subsection> 
<subsection id="HCCCAB0A2C738457C89D530B3E5BE22D6" indent="up1"><enum>(f)</enum><header>Involvement in Matters Subject to Ongoing Adjudication, Litigation, or Investigation</header><text>The Ombudsman shall refrain from any involvement in the merits of individual matters that are the subject of ongoing adjudication or litigation, or investigations related to such adjudication or litigation.</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="HB84D8EEC755E417AA07090CB50F51338" indent="subsection"><enum>(g)</enum><header>Reports</header><text></text> 
<paragraph id="HEF9CFA96548D48D2B3AAF2F31B9DCACA" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In General</header><text>Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this section, and semiannually thereafter, the Ombudsman shall submit to the Director of the Peace Corps, the Chair of the Peace Corps National Advisory Council, and Congress a report containing a summary of—</text> 
<subparagraph id="HFA054C549F4142C6BD01A61279A70744"><enum>(A)</enum><text>the complaints, questions, and concerns considered by the Ombudsman;</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="HAFAEABC6BFF14F67AC8ED0DFF6F31022"><enum>(B)</enum><text>the inquiries completed by the Ombudsman;</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="HC31C32D2410348EDA8B210C713C8D99"><enum>(C)</enum><text>recommendations for action with respect to such complaints, questions, concerns, or inquiries; and</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H63F893F3AE1D4524B50200BE5F6464BE"><enum>(D)</enum><text>any other matters that the Ombudsman considers relevant.</text></subparagraph></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H4A3C595B420543A081139D2DDA8EAA00" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Confidentiality</header><text>Each report submitted under paragraph (1) shall maintain confidentiality on any matter that the Ombudsman considers appropriate in accordance with subsection (e).</text></paragraph></subsection> 
<subsection id="HDCD2F9E54C264802A7E65B5942559CF6" indent="up1"><enum>(h)</enum><header>Definition</header><text>In this section, the term <quote>employee</quote> means an employee of the Peace Corps, an employee of the Office of Inspector General of the Peace Corps, an individual appointed or assigned under the Foreign Service Act of 1980 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/22/3901">22 U.S.C. 3901 et seq.</external-xref>) to carry out functions under this Act, or an individual subject to a personal services contract with the Peace Corps.</text> </subsection></section> <after-quoted-block>. </after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section> 
<section id="H4F831FA10CBB4481B09C22E94FEAD9A9"><enum>3.</enum><header>Office of Safety and Security of the Peace Corps</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The Peace Corps Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/22/2501">22 U.S.C. 2501 et seq.</external-xref>), as amended by section 2 of this Act, is further amended by inserting after section 4A the following new section:</text> 
<quoted-block style="OLC" id="HBE3C7EEBB69140CCABC7BD6108410878" display-inline="no-display-inline"> 
<section id="HA0DA29EC0F5E40C79326495177C15FD"><enum>4B.</enum><header>Office of Safety and Security of the Peace Corps</header> 
<subsection id="H577E40B8EBB04E2F8CD68EA9E951F378"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Establishment</header><text>There is established in the Peace Corps the Office of Safety and Security of the Peace Corps (hereinafter in this section referred to as the <quote>Office</quote>). The Office shall be headed by the Associate Director of Safety and Security of the Peace Corps, who shall be appointed by and report directly to the Director of the Peace Corps.</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="H974429D124E448CAAB2B252033971137"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Responsibilities</header><text>The Office established under subsection (a) shall be responsible for all safety and security activities of the Peace Corps, including background checks of volunteers and staff, safety and security of volunteers and staff (including training), safety and security of facilities, security of information technology, and other responsibilities as required by the Director.</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="HC4E2EBB5603F48F700CDCE9F5C7839D4"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Sense of Congress</header><text>It is the sense of Congress that—</text> 
<paragraph id="HB36890BC4062450786F8EBAFCD6257DC"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the Associate Director of Safety and Security of the Peace Corps, as appointed pursuant to subsection (a) of this section, should assign a Peace Corps country security coordinator for each country where the Peace Corps has a program of volunteer service for the purposes of carrying out the field responsibilities of the Office established under subsection (a); and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H80AA6ADFD9004E31B5F9E79EE0C0C229"><enum>(2)</enum><text>each country security coordinator—</text> 
<subparagraph id="H683770651CF548E0A9E161CCDD75BB7"><enum>(A)</enum><text>should be under the supervision of the Peace Corps country director in each such country;</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H2933EF0E64BC468B81408E17F3AFBD38"><enum>(B)</enum><text>should report directly to the Associate Director of Safety and Security of the Peace Corps, as appointed pursuant to subsection (a) of this section, on all matters of importance as the country security coordinator considers necessary;</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H430825F96FB34306B9CD2635F9C8C12F"><enum>(C)</enum><text>should be responsible for coordinating with the regional security officer of the Peace Corps responsible for the country to which such country security officer is assigned; and</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H721D541DF55943D6B2F29BE26F5DCC95"><enum>(D)</enum><text>should be a United States citizen who has access to information, including classified information, relating to the possible threats against Peace Corps volunteers.</text></subparagraph></paragraph></subsection></section><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section> 
<section id="H484BB8CB09F144A684B8208498129ED4" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>4.</enum><header>Office of Medical Services of the Peace Corps</header> 
<subsection id="H4C33CEB725CC4B8DAB79B9056C55E1FB"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Report on Medical Screening and Placement Coordination</header><text>Not later than 120 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Director of the Peace Corps shall submit to the appropriate congressional committees a report that—</text> 
<paragraph id="H573600C1E83E4C6197DEB46466A80000"><enum>(1)</enum><text>describes the medical screening procedures and guidelines used by the office responsible for medical services of the Peace Corps to determine whether an applicant for Peace Corps service has worldwide clearance, limited clearance, a deferral period, or is not medically, including psychologically, qualified to serve in the Peace Corps as a volunteer;</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H2FA7C84893C44B59BFE6F773876EA8A4"><enum>(2)</enum><text>describes the procedures and guidelines used by the Peace Corps to ensure that applicants for Peace Corps service are matched with a host country where the applicant, reasonable accommodations notwithstanding, can complete at least two years of volunteer service without interruption due to foreseeable medical conditions; and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HE0CEB7F72629437282E760300E4A99B"><enum>(3)</enum><text>with respect to each of the fiscal years 2000 through 2003 and the first six months of fiscal year 2004, states the number of—</text> 
<subparagraph id="H8D4E38B9D45E4FFEBDE644688F33E7E0"><enum>(A)</enum><text>medical screenings of applicants conducted;</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H6C77F4AC5302432D8478CD8225F2706E"><enum>(B)</enum><text>applicants who have received worldwide clearance, limited clearance, deferral periods, and medical disqualifications to serve;</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H7D2A517838F049FC8260CA03DEDB1FA8"><enum>(C)</enum><text>appeals to the Medical Screening Review Board of the Peace Corps and the number of times that an initial screening decision was upheld;</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H9D6A605D5CF942D7A4AC14DEE2C2DD7E"><enum>(D)</enum><text>requests to the head of the office responsible for medical services of the Peace Corps for reconsideration of a decision of the Medical Screening Review Board and the number of times that the decision of the Medical Screening Review Board was upheld by the head of such office;</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H5BEE491030494704AEC8EE97B41B74D5"><enum>(E)</enum><text>Peace Corps volunteers who became medically qualified to serve because of a decision of the Medical Screening Review Board and who were later evacuated or terminated their service early due to medical reasons;</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H6786D2D6CF064332A9B93E9EC97E5D29"><enum>(F)</enum><text>Peace Corps volunteers who became medically qualified to serve because of a decision of the head of the office responsible for medical services of the Peace Corps and who were later evacuated or terminated their service early due to medical reasons;</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H4B2C4453D50E400BB47B9C85E52F1ED1"><enum>(G)</enum><text>Peace Corps volunteers who the agency has had to separate from service due to the discovery of undisclosed medical information; and</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="HC4448597A8594A8D8C8B390001A375B5"><enum>(H)</enum><text>Peace Corps volunteers who have terminated their service early due to medical, including psychological, reasons.</text></subparagraph></paragraph></subsection> 
<subsection id="HC05CFCFA9C024CE28BD895693382700"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Definition</header><text>In subsection (a), the term <quote>appropriate congressional committees</quote> means the Committee on International Relations of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Foreign Relations of the Senate.</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="H7B0871F3F338401EA626B114E846B224"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Full Time Director of Medical Services</header><text>Section 4(c) of the Peace Corps Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/22/2503">22 U.S.C. 2503(c)</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following new paragraph:</text>

<paragraph id="H09AF8CDCD6224F9AA7439C8C80252DC5"><enum>(5)</enum><text>The Director of the Peace Corps shall ensure that the head of the office responsible for medical services of the Peace Corps does not occupy any other position in the Peace Corps.</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block> </subsection></section> 
<section id="H38C42DF3FE4B44FAA406FBCE89B77F08"><enum>5.</enum><header>Reports on the <quote>Five Year Rule</quote> and on Work Assignments of Volunteers of the Peace Corps</header> 
<subsection id="HEA6DF039702E4C33B5FA17D72E941F23"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Report by the Comptroller General</header> 
<paragraph id="HA1B29C266399425E834B347D6469FFE0"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In general</header><text>Not later than one year after the date of enactment of this Act, the Comptroller General shall submit to the appropriate congressional committees a report on the effects of the limitation on the duration of employment, appointment, or assignment of officers and employees of the Peace Corps under section 7 of the Peace Corps Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/22/2506">22 U.S.C. 2506</external-xref>) on the ability of the Peace Corps to effectively manage Peace Corps operations.</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H5AE69E5CC8084FB382A1C11F83004585"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Contents</header><text>The report described in paragraph (1) shall include—</text> 
<subparagraph id="H2A757446E82D4636A199E47CEA08C737"><enum>(A)</enum><text>a description of such limitation;</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H8ADF627C80AF49208713132696BCB384"><enum>(B)</enum><text>a description of the history of such limitation and the purposes for which it was enacted and amended;</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H9C003F9DAD464A15B4F427F17126BED"><enum>(C)</enum><text>an analysis of the impact of such limitation on the ability of the Peace Corps to recruit capable volunteers, establish productive and worthwhile assignments for volunteers, provide for the health, safety, and security of volunteers, and, as declared in section 2(a) of the Peace Corps Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/22/2501">22 U.S.C. 2501(a)</external-xref>), <quote>promote a better understanding of the American people on the part of the peoples served and a better understanding of other peoples on the part of the American people</quote>;</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="HD23DD94D6E3645D3945C1DEC9565A96F"><enum>(D)</enum><text>an assessment of whether the application of such limitation has accomplished the objectives for which it was intended; and</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="HFF8A7BD9CB98410CA6544F65BEEFBEFA"><enum>(E)</enum><text>recommendations, if any, for legislation to amend provisions of the Peace Corps Act relating to such limitation.</text></subparagraph></paragraph></subsection> 
<subsection id="H9D8624F772374EC784ABA28E2B2B506F"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Report on Work Assignments of Volunteers</header> 
<paragraph id="H5B4AFA39966D4E79A89FAE339F700116"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In general</header><text>Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Director of the Peace Corps shall submit to the appropriate congressional committees a report on the extent to which the work assignments of Peace Corps volunteers fulfill the commitment of the Peace Corps to ensuring that such assignments are well developed, with clear roles and expectations, and that volunteers are well-suited for their assignments.</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H0098219304DC499AB120D4030D8725C"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Contents</header><text>The report described in paragraph (1) shall include—</text> 
<subparagraph id="HF647D70847744C5A9C712F635E9370C8"><enum>(A)</enum><text>an assessment of the extent to which agreements between the Peace Corps and host countries delineate clear roles for volunteers in assisting host governments to advance their national development strategies;</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="HC76A786FDB1A497C00AAD5F04F96800"><enum>(B)</enum><text>an assessment of the extent to which the Peace Corps recruits volunteers who have skills that correlate with the expectations cited in the country agreements and assigns such volunteers to such posts;</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="HF0BCC02DD61E497D837EB9D4A82EC828"><enum>(C)</enum><text>a description of procedures for determining volunteer work assignments and minimum standards for such assignments;</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H9B18C92FDDE3480390EFCC93E1A8DDD"><enum>(D)</enum><text>a volunteer survey on health, safety, and security issues as well as satisfaction surveys which will have been conducted after the date of the enactment of this Act; and</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="HD2D40367837E4DCE81471B5EAC81F26C"><enum>(E)</enum><text>an assessment of the plan of the Peace Corps to increase the number of volunteers who are assigned to projects in sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, and the Western Hemisphere, particularly among communities of African descent within countries in the Western Hemisphere, which help combat HIV/AIDS and other global infectious diseases.</text></subparagraph></paragraph></subsection> 
<subsection id="HDB1C85FB5754475C94DFBBD77440003B"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Definition</header><text>In this section, the term <quote>appropriate congressional committees</quote> means the Committee on International Relations of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Foreign Relations of the Senate.</text></subsection></section> 
<section id="HCBE3484BA94A4910BFF1AE88267B083" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>6.</enum><header>Inspector General of the Peace Corps</header> 
<subsection id="H22C70CF1BA414ACAA1801FE370716BE3"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Establishment of Independent Inspector General</header> 
<paragraph id="H57BC8ED15E9149EEB95E49D0BF08B2C"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In General</header><text>The Inspector General Act of 1978 (5 U.S.C. App.) is amended—</text> 
<subparagraph id="H9630DCA17A44415F99C317270721BAF1"><enum>(A)</enum><text>in section 8G(a)(2), by striking <quote>, the Peace Corps</quote>;</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H42A87EFF1EEC4FDBBB24DF739F1EA670"><enum>(B)</enum><text>in section 9(a)(1), by adding at the end the following new subparagraph:</text>

<clause id="HF94A50061B864E1D956B92C395BC6770"><enum>(i)</enum><text>in paragraph (1), by striking <quote>or the Office of Personnel Management</quote> and inserting <quote>the Office of Personnel Management, or the Peace Corps</quote>; and</text></clause> 
<clause id="HD9C16C760FAA46BC87928948EA3FBFA2"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>in paragraph (2), by inserting <quote>, the Peace Corps</quote> after <quote>the Office of Personnel Management</quote>.</text></clause></subparagraph> </paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H1F4D6E677D904DDAAD893D4BCD8D4D4E"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Technical Amendment</header><text>Section 9(a)(1)(U) of the Inspector General Act of 1978 (5 U.S.C. App.) is amended by striking <quote>and</quote> at the end.</text></paragraph></subsection> 
<subsection id="HB0574B8C1BE040D4940001A7D5DBDF28"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Temporary Appointment</header><text>The Director of the Peace Corps may appoint an individual to assume the powers and duties of the Inspector General of the Peace Corps under the Inspector General Act of 1978 (5 U.S.C. App.) on an interim basis until such time as a person is appointed by the President, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, pursuant to the amendments made in this section.</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="H747D37C5165F4B50A1CF7853539DB000"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Exemption from Employment Term Limits Under the Peace Corps Act</header> 
<paragraph id="HB19A988C2BB841FBA6514BEB673B60B5"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In General</header><text>Section 7 of the Peace Corps Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/22/2506">22 U.S.C. 2506</external-xref>) is amended—</text> 
<subparagraph id="H7A474E9CBE8C4DD99D2F0682A0009CEA"><enum>(A)</enum><text>by redesignating subsection (c) as subsection (b); and</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="HC2A7EE57DF524F769BCBC636CF13F25B"><enum>(B)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following new subsection:</text>

<subsection id="H70EA347A5715481CBE27D224EE2B8C3"><enum>(c)</enum><text>The provisions of this section that limit the duration of service, appointment, or assignment of individuals shall not apply to—</text> 
<paragraph id="HFC136361D3E54491B13B31A5D63F58C1"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the Inspector General of the Peace Corps;</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H971B5991976F458EAD79E4D33F0FB50"><enum>(2)</enum><text>officers of the Office of the Inspector General of the Peace Corps;</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H19C032DED509450BAE1B58C348FF41C"><enum>(3)</enum><text>any individual whose official duties primarily include the safety and security of Peace Corps volunteers or employees;</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H1B8988DA68D748C2B1F60016A9328568"><enum>(4)</enum><text>the head of the office responsible for medical services of the Peace Corps; or</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HAF13ED6A446B475498C758B8BE067F54"><enum>(5)</enum><text>any health care professional within the office responsible for medical services of the Peace Corps.</text> </paragraph> </subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subparagraph></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HB4C26871F0F749E3A6C81C61005CC93E"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Conforming Amendment</header><text>The first proviso of section 15(d)(4) of the Peace Corps Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/22/2514">22 U.S.C. 2514(d)(4)</external-xref>) is amended by striking <quote>7(c)</quote> and inserting <quote>7(b)</quote>.</text></paragraph></subsection> 
<subsection id="H97A269A9A2E04208BA3BF352F36B2EC0"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Compensation</header><text>Section 7 of the Peace Corps Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/22/2506">22 U.S.C. 2506</external-xref>), as amended by subsection (c) of this section, is further amended by adding at the end the following new subsection:</text>

<subsection id="HDD29E9B8379049EA003369C631434C4"><enum>(d)</enum><text>The Inspector General of the Peace Corps shall be compensated at the rate provided for level IV of the Executive Schedule under <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/5/5315">section 5315</external-xref> of title 5, United States Code.</text></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block> </subsection> </section>
