		<section id="H60F75103A472425C937502875B06002C" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Tax-Free Gold Act of 2008</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section commented="no" id="HFCFC913EB94B48B1B924424EDFBC691E"><enum>2.</enum><header>No tax on certain
			 coins and bullion</header>
			<subsection commented="no" id="H19B577B7D81349D594B61243A11D8FB"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text>Notwithstanding any other provision of law—</text>
				<paragraph id="H30138C54CF59441C96FD024B6392402"><enum>(1)</enum><text>no
			 tax may be imposed on (or with respect to the sale, exchange, or other
			 disposition of) any coin, medal, token, or gold, silver, platinum, palladium,
			 or rhodium bullion, whether issued by a State, the United States, a foreign
			 government, or any other person, and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="H8CF5EC25AE6C4AF5AFCD8BF5C7C2DFF8"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">no State may assess any tax or fee on any
			 currency, or any other monetary instrument, which is used in the transaction of
			 interstate commerce or commerce with a foreign country, and which is subject to
			 the enjoyment of legal tender status under article I, section 10 of the United
			 States Constitution.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection commented="no" id="HDB2C4A933DF549BCA38B4470B400B951"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective
			 date</header><text>This section shall take effect on December 31, 2008, but
			 shall not apply to taxes or fees imposed before such date.</text>
